    Applications are invited from qualified pharmacists and 5th year pharmacy interns eligible for registration with the PSI in 2022. This is also a suitable role for those wishing to move from community, industry, or academic pharmacy into secondary care.

    Appointees will be afforded opportunities to engage with all aspects of the pharmacy service and will be encouraged to become familiar with and gain expertise in the clinical, technical operational and governance practices, facilities and equipment available for the provision of our services for patients.

    The pharmacy provides:  Stock and non-stock supplies for acute and non- acute inpatients & outpatients, inpatient clinical pharmacy services, chemotherapy/aseptic compounding, clinical cancer services, clinical trials and medicines information. The pharmacy leads on Medication Safety throughout the hospital and is fully engaged with antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control.

    The department also supports education of pharmacy staff, interns and pharmaceutical technician students and is engaged in nurse education and teaching other clinical disciplines within the hospital.

    Among the clinical specialties served by UHW Pharmacy are; Accident & Emergency, Intensive Care, High Dependency, Cardiology, Nephrology, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Gastric & Colorectal Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neonatal Intensive care, Paediatrics, Elderly Medicine, Psychiatry, Haematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care.
